Yeah, still talk about how to call the people in mandarin, like your uncle, auntie, cousin, granpa, grandma and other. Ok let’s see the sample below.

爷爷 it’s spell ‘ye(2) ye(4)’
奶奶 it’s spell ‘nai(3) nai(1)’
Two above words mean granpa and granma, but that’s another word we can use like 公公 spell ‘gong(1) gong(1)’ and 婆婆 spell ‘po(2) po(4)’. These two words have the same meaning with the words before.

伯父 spelling ‘bo(2) fu(4)’
伯母 spelling ‘bo(2) mu(3)’
The first one use for call the older brother from your father, and the second is for his wife.

叔叔 spelling ‘shu(1) shu(4)’
婶婶 spelling ‘shen(3) shen(1)’
The first for call the younger brother from your father, and same the second is for his wife.
This is a different from the English language, we just call ‘uncle’ and ‘auntie’ that’s enough.

舅舅 spell ‘jiu(4) jiu(4)’
舅母 spell ‘jiu(4) mu(3)’
Another different calling in Mandarin language, if your family from your mother. The first word is for your mother brother, and the second is for his wife.

表哥 spell ‘biao(3) ge(1)’
表妹 spell ‘biao(3) mei(4)’
How about their children? I mean for your cousin, yeah….that’s right, the two words above is for your cousin, the first for male and the second for female.
