In the first post, we have learn about the very basic number one to ten in mandarin, how about the other like hundred, thousand, million, and combination of them. Ok, I will explain it with a simple sample for you.
百 spelling ‘bai(3)’ meaning ‘hundred’
千 spelling ‘qian(1)’ meaning ‘thousand’
万 spelling ‘wan(4)’ meaning ‘ten thousand’
亿 spelling ‘yi(4)’ meaning ‘hundred million’
二十五 spelling ‘er(4) shi(2) wu(3)’ meaning ‘twenty five’
五千 spelling ‘wu(3) qian(1)’ meaning ‘five thousand’
一亿五千万 spelling ‘yi(2) yi(4) wu(3) qian(1) wan(4)’ meaning ‘one hundred and fifty million’
It’s the different in mandarin language from the major language for number. It doesn’t have million and billion, but represented by other character equal with ‘ten thousand’ and ‘hundred million’. So 一百万 equal with a million and 十亿 equal with a billion. That’s easy to understand, right?…
